SOA SUITE 12c Installation

Part 1: SOA 12c Installation

Part 1: SOA 12c Installation

Couple of features has been introduced in SOA 12c, one of that is single installer for developers where we need not to install all the components (Database, Weblogic, SOA, Jdeveloper) separately. We just run one installer and that install all the components at one go.

Follow below steps to install Oracle SOA 12c on window machine. These steps applicable for SOA Suite Version:12.1.3.0.

JDK Installation:
Download Oracle JDK 7 from Oracle site and install it.

SOA 12c Installation

Download the Oracle SOA suite 12c installer from Oracle site. Extract that downloaded jar file and you will see below two executable jar files.
• fmw_12.1.3.0.0_soa_quickstart
• fmw_12.1.3.0.0_soa_quickstart2
We need to run these executable jar files from command prompt.

Open the command prompt and go to JDK bin folder and run the following command to start the installation.

Java –jar Oracle_SOA_12c_exceutable_Jar_File_Location (fmw_12.1.3.0.0_soa_quickstart)

It start extracting the files and launch the installer and show welcome screen as shown below.

Domain Creation

We can create different types of domain as per our requirement but Default domain is most common domain used among developers.

Default Domain

This domain is created on Integrated Weblogic server that is tied to JDeveloper. In this domain we use Java DB (Derby) instead of Oracle database. This is very light and recommended for developers. This does not support advance features like MFT, ESS support etc.

Follow below steps to create default domain.

Open the JDeveloper and go to Window menu bar option and click on “Application Server” link. Right click on “IntegratedWebLogicServer” and choose “Create Default Domain” option.

It open another pop-up window where we see all pre-set values for the domain. We need to enter the password and note down the port numbers. Finally click on Ok to create domain.
